Lately, I have been spending time cleaning up my local network configuration so I do not have to keep memorizing IP addresses and port numbers for every single service. When you start hosting more than a couple of applications, keeping track of all those numbers just becomes tedious.
Setting up local DNS records and organizing subnets makes accessing self-hosted tools so much cleaner across different devices. I spent some time mapping out my network and making sure all my services had simple, memorable names instead of a random string of digits. It is one of those subtle background upgrades that takes a bit of planning up front, but once it is running, it makes daily workflows so much smoother.
